Montpellier – An entrepreneur plans to turn the old city hall, on the gorgeous Place de la Canourgue, into a luxury boutique hotel.
In the heart of Montpellier, the Hotel Richer de Belleval has been neglected for 10 years. Owned by the city, this hotel particulier was the town hall from 1814 to 1975 and then became a judicial building.
“There’s something very characterful about it. What’s more, it is situated on one of Montpellier’s most beautiful squares, La Canourgue,” says Jerome Asius. This entrepreneur has the project of turning the Hotel Richer de Belleval into a luxury hotel, and is now studying whether this plan is profit-making. He has chosen the architect Stephane Maupin to design the plans.
